  1. “I hurt myself today To see if I still feel I focus on the pain The only thing that’s real The needle tears a hole The old familiar sting Try to kill it all away But I remember everything What have I become My sweetest friend Everyone I know goes away In the end And you could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt”

  2. The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency brought formal doping charges against former cyclist Lance Armstrong in an action that could cost him his seven Tour de France titles, according to a letter sent to Armstrong and several others Tuesday.
As a result of the charges, Armstrong has been immediately banned from competition in triathlons, a sport he took up after his retirement from cycling in 2011.

  3. As the triathlon coaches/gurus Lance contacted him warned him … he might not be able to gap the competition on the bike. He’s discovering there’s truth to them thar words. It’s not even like he could go harder on the bike; he has said he has been tying up on the bike (e.g., IM 70.3 Texas). It’s years of swim-bike-run to accumulate a body system geared to swim-bike-run. He’s got a huge aerobic engine and history (@14-17 years of age), + a high pain threshold. All those will only get him so far.

I think that in Panama Lance learned that he really doesn’t have to hold that much back on the bike; look for a blistering bike split tomorrow and another podium spot for Armstrong.

Losing eats at him. It’s such a big disappointment to lose and he will do whatever he physically can to prevent the feeling after the next race. Competitor to the bone. Thanks for coming back to the triathlon party, Lance!
